Weak acids are those which doesn’t completely dissociate in solution.
H2CO3
= H(+) + HCO3(-)
There always exist an equilibrium (here = sign) between LHS and RHS. So some of H(+) always combines with HCO3(-) to give the backward reaction. That’s why amount of free H(+) in the solution decreases.
